The Power of Wordless Books

Who doesn’t love to look at the pictures in a book and guess what’s going on?  Children almost always seem to, and for that reason wordless picture books can be a fantastic resource to help develop early literacy skills.

With just a little prompting from parents vocabulary can be enriched, plus storytelling skills and comprehension can be presented in a fun and interactive way.  An additional bonus of wordless books is that hesitant or frustrated early readers can feel less pressure and enjoy the book more by not having to think about reading correctly.  This opportunity to have fun with books can be invaluable, especially for struggling readers!
