New Series Books for Young Readers

This spring finds us here at the library with lots of great new chapter books on our shelves.  We’ve chosen a few from popular series to highlight.

The Princess in Black and the Hungry Bunny Hoarde by Shannon Hale

The third in the series and most recent since The Princess in Black and the Perfect Princess Party, this title tells the story of Princess Magnolia’s newest adventure – battling cute bunnies that are eating too much grass!

Recommended for: grades K-3, especially girls who may enjoy a princess story with a superhero twist.

The Hindenburg Disaster, 1927 by Lauren Tarshis

The newest title in the always popular I Survived series of historical fiction based on true events.  This time, a boy named Hugo finds himself and his family scrambling for survival as a passenger on the Hindenburg.  

Recommended for: kids in grades 3-5 who enjoy fast-paced adventure.

Dance! Dance! Underpants! by Bob Shea

Ballet Cat is back in a dancing adventure featuring big leaps and (what else?) underpants.  Accessible enough for early independent readers, the text also lends itself to being a great read-aloud to share together.

Recommended for: grades K-3 who enjoy a silly story.
