Teen Book Pick: Places No One Knows by Brenna Yovanoff

Places No One Knows by Brenna Yovanoff is my teen book pick of the month. Let me just say that this book is amazing and a truly unique read. I never thought I would like magical realism, but this book won me over. This book is for fans of Before I Fall, We Were Liars, Keep Holding On, and The Hundred Lies of Lizzie Lovett.

Places No One Knows is told from two perspectives, Waverly Camdenmar and Marshall Holt. Waverly is an overachiever, part of student government, and popular. While Marshall is failing his classes, his home life is a mess, and he spends too much time drinking and partying. They both hang out in completely different social circles and could not be more opposite. One night everything changes for them both when Waverly dreams herself in to Marshall’s dreams. At first they both think it is dream, that is until it keeps happening…

What I love about this story is that it feels so realistic, but has hints of magic. The characters are well developed and aren’t perfect. Even Waverly has her own dark secrets that keep her up at night. If you want to read more about this book, check out the description from the publisher in our catalog.
