Teen Book Picks: To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, The Upside of Unrequited, & Death Cloud

Are you ready for summer? Do you have your sunglasses, sunscreen, fidget spinners, summer reading logs, and books to read? I can’t help you with the first three, but I can help you with reading logs and some summer reading recommendations. First things first, you can register online or in person at the library for summer reading. We have lots of free books and other prizes that you can win. It is pretty awesome. Now I couldn’t choose just one book to recommend for June, so here are three fun books to read this summer!

My first teen book pick of the month is To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han.  This book is for readers who have liked Open Road Summer by Emery Lord and What I thought was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is a comedic love story following sixteen-year-old Lara Jean. Lara Jean has spent her life writing love letters and never mailing them.  One day after school Lara Jean comes home and finds that all of her letters are missing and even worse… ALL of her letters have been mailed. If this sounds like a book for you, then check out the description in our catalog.

My second teen book pick of the month is The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli. This book is for fans of Alex Approximately by Jenn Bennett and By Your Side by Kasie West. This book is sweet, cute, and a fun read to take with you this summer. This story is about seventeen-year-old Molly and her mission to get her first kiss. Molly is tired of crushing from afar and watching her twin sister find love. So she sets out to win over cute hipster Will, but in the process she also starts to like her nerdy coworker Reid. Which is not okay!  Visit our catalog to learn more about this romantic coming of age book.

My third teen book pick of the month is Death Cloud by Andrew Lane. This book is the first of eight books in an ongoing series and is for individuals who have enjoyed The Diviners by Libba Bray and Jackaby by William Ritter. Death Cloud is the story of a young fourteen-year-old Sherlock Holmes and his many adventures in the summer of 1868. I can’t write too much without giving away the story, but just know there will be lots of fighting, running, lying, villains, intrigue, and secret societies. Want to know more about this book? Then visit our catalog to read more about it. You can also get this book online through our digital collection located on Overdrive.
