Podcasts for Kids

Podcasts can be a great way to introduce kids to new ideas, but with so many out there it can be difficult to narrow down those geared to kids.  If you’re puzzled by where to look for your next good family listen, check out these recommendations from library staff.

A Peabody award winner, this outer space sci-fi podcast has been described as a cross between The Goonies and Stranger Things.  Written and performed by middle-grade kids for a middle-grade audience.

Brains On! Science Podcast for Kids

Produced by American Public Media, this engaging science podcast can entertain both elementary schoolers and their grown-ups.  Brains On!  takes questions from kids across the country and answers them in a fun, accessible way.  A great way to get kids thinking of science topics in a new light.

G-rated retellings of, you guessed it, stories! Tales included range from classics like Snow White and The Gingerbread Man to original content.  Advertised as “great for imaginative families”, these podcasts are perfect for bed time, car time or just hanging out around the house.
