Movies & Books For Teens That I’m Really Excited For!

There are so many great movies and books coming out in July and August that I’m really excited for! Here are some movies and books for teens that you should be on the lookout for!

Book-to-Movie: To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han
Audience: Teens, Young Adults
Release Date:  Netflix, August 2018
Why I’m really excited for it: If you haven’t read this book… what are you doing!? It is a hilarious coming-of-age romantic comedy. The main character Lara Jean is a book nerd pushed out of her comfort zone when all of her love letters get mysteriously mailed out.

Book-to-Movie: The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken
Audience: Teens, Young Adults
Release Date:  Theaters, August 2018
Why I’m really excited for it: This book is X-Men meets Hunger Games. The main character Ruby escapes from a government run camp of powerful beings. Ruby wants to live a quite life, but turns out she is really super POWERFUL! She has to decide to use her powers to save everyone or keep hiding. This book series is epic and you should read it before the movie comes out.

Book: Zen and Gone by Emily France
Audience: Teens, Young Adult
Release Date:  July 2018
Why I’m really excited for it:  France writes about self discovery and growing-up.  This story follows seventeen-year-old Essa, who is trying to find herself and take care of her younger sister Puck.

Author Emily France will be visiting the Lafayette Public Library on July 23 @ 4PM. Make sure to register! 

Book: The Girl You Thought I Was by Rebecca Phillips
Audience: Teens, Young Adult
Release Date:  July 2018
Why I’m really excited for it: Phillips has written some pretty awesome romantic and dark contemporaries. Which is why I can’t wait to read her latest book in August!
