The Kitten-Duck

Once there was a kitten that was raised by a duck. They lived in a nest by a pond with many cattails. The pond had duckweed growing by the shore. A frog lived in a little hole in the mud. A bird lived in a nest in an oak tree near the pond. The frog and the bird enjoy play fighting and singing together.
When the duck ate corn, he ate corn too. The kitten said “This tastes weird!” The duck answered “Well, try a mouse it might taste better. Soon you might like corn too.” The kitten asks “What does a mouse look like?” The duck answered “It’s a little brown or gray furry creature with a long tail.” The kitten says “Okay” and goes off to chase a mouse.
When the kitten finally found a mouse and began to chase it, the duck said “Once you eat that you might find out you want to try new foods to see how they taste.” The kitten catches the mouse and carries it back to the nest. The mouse is hanging limply in his jaws. He begins to eat it and says “Yummy!”
When the duck went into the pond and swam around, he went into the pond and swam too. The kitten said “This feels weird!” The duck answered “Maybe you might like it someday. Anyway, try climbing a tree.” The kitten says “Okay” and searches for a tree. When the kitten finds a tree and begins to climb it, he says “This is fun!” The duck replies “You might make it to the top!”
When the kitten climbs back down, the duck says “Let’s go back to our nest and sleep.” The kitten says “That sounds like a good idea. I’m a little tired.” So they go back to the nest and snuggle together. Soon the kitten falls fast asleep.
They live happily ever after.
