Studio 775 Makerspace: 3D Printing Face Shields

We are 3D printing parts of face shields for Make4COVID; an organization that distributes face shields to healthcare organizations across the state. What to know more? Check out this letter from our Makerspace Librarian Kate explaining more about what we are doing!

As of April 6, Make4Covid had received requests for over 18,000 face shields, and are distributing them all over Colorado to healthcare organizations and other essential workers at increased risk of exposure. These have included a Children’s Hospital, urgent care clinic, hospice center, and sheriff’s department among others. We are printing the headband portions while others will laser cut the transparent portions. All pieces will be delivered to their recipients and undergo final disinfection and assembly there. They are also able to be disassembled, cleaned, and reused.

As of yesterday, over 6,000 units of PPE have been delivered. Anyone wishing to participate should register on the Make4Covid website, as restrictions are fairly stringent in order to produce safe and effective equipment.

Best,

-Kate
