Participate

Every year we cap off October with our Day of the Dead/(Día De Los Muertos) celebration on Saturday, Oct. 29, featuring musical Storytime with Basho & Friends, a performance by Mariachi Alma de Folklore, sugar skull workshop, and face painting.

Call for Day of the Dead Altars
Lafayette Public Library invites individuals, families, or groups to create an altar for our Día de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) community display Oct. 15-Nov. 12.

Create Mini-Diorama Altars
Pick up supplies starting Oct. 1 – Drop off dioramas by Oct. 15.

Pick up a small box (while supplies last) from the Lafayette Public Library starting Oct. 1 to create your own mini-diorama altar honoring a loved one. Using materials from home, honor a family member, friend, pet, or celebrity that passed away. Include a description of your loved one. Get creative!

Make a Mini-Piñata – Registration Required Mini Pinata Workshop
Saturday, Oct. 22, 11am-1pm

Families – Learn how to make a piñata from beginning to end with Mexican artist Maribel Arredondo.
